Picnic Problems: SlideDoc

Tools: PowerPoint
Time in Development: 4.5 hours

After Googling a grilling temperature for the 4th of July, I set out to learn more about food safety for outdoor picnics. Originally, I created interactive scenarios in Storyline, but I wanted a text based guide/ job aid for easier reference.

Solutions

Originally, I thought of creating an infograph to represent the information visually, but I struggled to fit in all the information without it being too cluttered. I found SlideDocs (Nancy Durate) and it was the perfect solution. I used text, some icons, and a few pictures along with longer stretches of written text to create a full guide that could easily be shared and referenced.

Results

I was able to add more information as well as important charts and stats. The text is key, but the visuals including the markers across the bottom focus the reader's attention.
